Upcoming Feature Could Revolutionize Gaming: Here’s What You Need to Know

Threads, which entered the microblogging platform market on July 6, has been striving to rival X (previously known as Twitter) in the quest to become the leading platform. Although Threads experienced a surge in popularity upon its release, becoming the fastest platform to amass 100 million users, its momentum has somewhat waned since then. The initial spike in traffic was largely due to prominent problems on X and individuals growing weary of Elon Musk’s strict measures. Nevertheless, Threads still falls short in terms of various features that have contributed to X’s immense popularity in recent years.

But that could soon change as the platform is reportedly planning to introduce a Trends section.

Rising in threads

According to a report by 9to5Mac , eagle-eyed app developer Willian Max spotted a screenshot accidentally posted by a Threads employee showing the new Trends feature in the internal version of the Threads app. It showed the top 5 topics and the number of threads where it was mentioned. In the snapshot, Drake’s new album For All the Dogs ranked No. 1, while Billboard’s Latin Music Week ranked No. 2.

According to reports, this feature is available on the Search tab, which was recently updated and now allows users to search for threads using keywords. However, it is unclear if the Trending feature will also include other sections such as news, sports and entertainment like the X app. Since the feature is being tested in an internal version, it is also not confirmed if it will make it to the public version of Threads.

Other new features in Threads

In recent months, Meta Platforms has been trying to compete against X with its Threads app, introducing several new features. In August, Threads launched a new Repost tab feature for users on profiles, where they can see all the posts they’ve reposted together.

Additionally, the platform recently announced that it will soon allow users to quit the app without losing access to their Instagram account. From now on, if you want to delete your Threads account, it also means deleting your Instagram account. This new feature will roll out to Threads users by December.
